The Lodge
Let’s start this review of Four Seasons Serengeti with a little presentation of the lodge.
Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is one of the most established and sophisticated lodges in the region. With around 60 rooms, 12 suites, and 5 villas, it’s considerably larger than the typical safari lodge in Tanzania, which usually offers between 10 and 20 tents. Despite its size, the property manages to maintain a sense of serenity thanks to its layout and breathtaking setting.
Perched on elevated wooden platforms overlooking the savannah and a large waterhole, the lodge provides guests with constant wildlife viewing opportunities: elephants, zebras, giraffes and even lions can often be spotted right from the main terrace. The décor follows a contemporary African style, with warm earthy tones, local materials, and subtle luxury that feels elegant without being ostentatious.

Transfers & Arrival
Reaching the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is already an adventure in itself. Guests typically arrive via a domestic flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport to Seronera Airstrip, the main gateway to the central Serengeti. The flight takes around 45 minutes, offering incredible views over the plains, rivers, and herds of wildlife below.
Upon landing, the lodge team greets guests directly at the airstrip and takes care of the transfer: a comfortable 45-minute game drive through the park that immediately immerses you in the safari experience. You’ll likely see zebras, giraffes, or elephants before even arriving at the lodge.
Once at the property, the welcome experience is seamless: refreshing towels, a cool drink, and a warm Tanzanian welcome from the staff. The check-in process is quick, and your butler or host personally escorts you to your suite, giving a short introduction to the lodge along the way.

Our Terrace Suite (Number 306)
During our stay, we were accommodated in Terrace Suite 306, a perfect setup for three adults thanks to its separate living room, allowing privacy and extra comfort. The interior design blends modern luxury with traditional African elements: wooden accents, local artwork, and warm lighting that enhances the cozy ambiance.
The highlight, however, is the private plunge pool on the terrace, offering unobstructed views over the savannah. Watching elephants, zebras, or giraffes wander by while relaxing in your pool is a surreal and unforgettable experience. The bathroom is also spacious, with both indoor and outdoor showers.
Overall, the suite feels elegant and practical, ideal for families or small groups seeking extra space and privacy while still being immersed in nature. Our review when it comes to the accommodation at Four Seasons Serengeti is very good.

The Service at Four Seasons Serengeti
As expected from the Four Seasons brand, the service at the Serengeti lodge was exceptional. Every staff member, from the reception to the restaurant and housekeeping teams, was genuinely friendly, attentive, and proactive.
The management team regularly checked in to make sure everything was perfect, and small details like surprise evening amenities or personalized notes made the stay even more special.
It’s that signature Four Seasons hospitality, polished, professional, and warm, that truly elevates the experience and makes you feel at home even in the middle of the African wilderness.

The Food: too hard to resist!
Let’s continue this review of Four Seasons Serengeti with something always extremely important for us: the food!
The dining experience at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti was consistently excellent. The full-board package includes all meals and alcoholic beverages, allowing guests to enjoy delicious cuisine and great wines without worrying about additional costs.
Breakfast is served buffet-style and offers a wide selection of dishes, from freshly baked pastries and tropical fruits to live cooking stations for eggs and pancakes. Lunch and dinner alternate between à la carte and themed buffets, showcasing both international and local Tanzanian cuisine.
The quality of the food is truly impressive considering the remote location of the lodge. Every meal was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor, with impeccable service to match. For those who wish to enhance the experience, private dining under the stars can also be arranged.

Private Dinner in the Bush
A key highlight of our stay that we wanted to talk about in our review of Four Seasons Serengeti is our private dinner in the bush.
The private dinner in the bush was maybe the most magical moments during our stay, an unforgettable experience that perfectly captures the romance of an African safari. As the sun set over the Serengeti, we were driven a few minutes away from the lodge to a beautifully set table surrounded by lanterns and a small bonfire.
The atmosphere was surreal: the sound of pure nature, the glowing horizon, and the warm light flickering across the savannah. The dinner itself was exquisite with a private BBQ.
The staff remained discreetly nearby, ensuring everything was perfect while still allowing us to feel completely alone in nature. It was one of those rare experiences that makes you stop and realize just how special this place is. Definitely a must-do when staying at Four Seasons Serengeti.

Safari with Four Seasons Serengeti
This is maybe the most important part of this review of Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti.
Game drives at the lodge are not included in the standard package and can be booked separately depending on how many outings guests wish to do.
The lodge uses closed safari vehicles, which are comfortable and air-conditioned but offer a slightly more detached experience compared to open vehicles at smaller camps such as Bushtops or Singita. The reduced openness means you don’t connect as directly with the environment, though it’s safer and quieter.
Wildlife sightings were nonetheless spectacular. During our stay, we saw lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, and even sometimes right in front of the lodge. The waterhole below the main pool attracts numerous animals throughout the day, making it possible to enjoy a “mini safari” without ever leaving the property.
Guides were knowledgeable and passionate, sharing detailed insights about animal behavior and the Serengeti ecosystem.

The Main Pool
The main infinity pool is one of the lodge’s signature features. Overlooking the vast plains, it offers one of the most photogenic settings in the Serengeti. The pool area is surrounded by comfortable loungers and shaded cabanas, creating a peaceful and luxurious retreat.
What makes it unique is the herd of elephants that frequently approach the waterhole just below the pool. Watching them drink or bathe while you relax with a cocktail in hand is truly magical. The ambiance here is serene and deeply connected to nature, a reminder of why the Four Seasons Serengeti stands out among safari lodges.

The Spa & Gym
An other area we wanted to cover in our review of Four Seasons Serengeti is the spa & gym.
After long days out on safari, the spa at Four Seasons Serengeti is the perfect place to unwind. The treatment rooms overlook the savannah, and the menu combines traditional African therapies with premium products. Massages are exceptional , particularly enjoyable after bumpy game drives.
The gym is compact but well-equipped, featuring modern Technogym machines and free weights. It’s ideal for keeping up with your fitness routine, and it’s impressive to find such high-quality facilities in such a remote location.

The Overall Experience
Our review of Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is very positive. The lodge delivers on every aspect of comfort, service, and food, all at the level you would expect from the Four Seasons brand.
However, travelers seeking a more intimate safari experience might find the property a bit too large and structured compared to smaller, boutique camps. Similarly, the closed safari vehicles slightly reduce the immersive feel of the drives.
Still, if you value comfort, gourmet dining, reliable service, and a safe, luxurious base to explore the Serengeti, this lodge is an outstanding option.

Pros & Cons
Pros
Excellent service and signature Four Seasons hospitality
Spacious and comfortable suites with private pools overlooking the savannah
Amazing food and all-inclusive meal plan with alcoholic beverages
Beautiful infinity pool with regular elephant sightings
Unforgettable private bush dinner experience
Reliable luxury experience with great facilities (spa, gym, etc.)
Cons
Large lodge (77 rooms) lacks the intimacy of smaller safari camps
Safari vehicles are closed, reducing immersion during game drives
Feels more like a resort than an authentic bush camp (not necessarily a bad thing if that is what you are after)

Conclusion: A Good Experience, But Not the Best
In conclusion, Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti offers a luxurious and comfortable way to discover one of Africa’s most legendary landscapes. The combination of high-end amenities, exceptional service, and great wildlife sightings ensures a memorable stay.
That said, for travelers who prefer smaller, more authentic bush camps with open vehicles and a stronger sense of wilderness immersion, other options in the Serengeti might deliver a more traditional safari feel.
Still, for those who want luxury, reliability, and comfort in the wild, the Four Seasons Serengeti is a fantastic choice and one of the most solid five-star lodges in Tanzania.
