First Impressions: A Naturally Beautiful Island

Before diving in details in this review of Four Seasons Kuda Huraa, let’s give you a quick introduction about the island itself.

Four Seasons Kuda Huraa has a welcoming and lush island feel, with well-kept tropical gardens and beautiful soft-sand beaches. The sunset side of the island is by far the most scenic. It’s peaceful, calm, and perfect for relaxing by the water with picture-perfect views across the Indian Ocean.

That said, the sunrise side does tend to collect a bit of seaweed, which doesn’t affect the overall beauty but is worth knowing when choosing your villa location.

Our Sunset Water Villa with Pool

To start with this review of Four Seasons Maldives at Kuda Huraa, let’s look into where we spent our nights. Our Sunset Water Villa with Pool which was a dream. Perched over the lagoon with wide ocean views, the villa was spacious and designed with understated elegance. The private infinity pool faced directly west, making it the perfect place to unwind while watching the sky turn shades of orange and pink in the evening.

The interiors had the signature Four Seasons style. Refined yet relaxed, with natural materials and thoughtful details throughout. Large sliding doors opened onto a spacious sundeck, and the bathroom was a highlight, complete with a deep soaking tub and direct ocean views.

The overall experience was peaceful, luxurious, and beautifully private. If you’re looking for a villa with space, comfort, and a front-row seat to the sunset, this Maldivian overwater pool villa won’t disappoint.

Dining & Restaurants

Dining at Four Seasons Kuda Huraa was consistently enjoyable, with a mix of global flavors and scenic settings.

Breakfast is served at the Café Huraa, which offers a buffet and à la carte menu. While the buffet wasn’t the largest or most impressive we’ve seen in the Maldives, the quality of the food was very good. The service was efficient and friendly, and we enjoyed starting the day with a cappuccino or orange juice overlooking the main pool.

For lunch and dinner, we particularly loved Reef Club, the resort’s Italian beachfront restaurant. The fresh pastas, seafood, and wood-fired pizzas were perfect for a relaxed casual meal, especially with the nearby pool creating a breezy coastal vibe.

Other dining options include Baraabaru, serving upscale Indian cuisine in a beautiful overwater setting, and Kandu Grill, focused on freshly grilled meats and seafood.

Whether we were snacking by the pool or enjoying dinner by the water, the food was well-executed and the Four Seasons service really stood out, which deserves pointing out in this review.

Spa & Wellness

Let’s continue this review of Four Seasons Maldives at Kuda Huraa with something TRULY unique in this resort.

Indeed, one of the most unique features of Kuda Huraa is its spa island. A completely separate islet dedicated to wellness, accessible only by dhoni, a traditional Maldivian wooden boat. It’s a short, scenic ride that adds a sense of ceremony to every visit.

The spa itself is tranquil and beautifully designed, with open-air treatment pavilions facing the ocean and a serene ambiance throughout. We booked a couples massage and had a wonderful experience. The therapists were skilled, and the setting was calming and immersive.

We also enjoyed something that was a first for me: a ice bath! Even more a first to do it in a tropical destination like the Maldives!

The gym at Kuda Huraa is also excellent. There are two spacious workout areas, one focused on cardio machines like treadmills and ellipticals, and another with a full range of weights and resistance equipment. Everything was well maintained and modern, and the space had great natural light.

Pools & Relaxation

An other point that we wanted to cover in this review of Four Seasons Kuda Huraa are the pools and relaxation areas.

The resort features two main pools, each offering a different vibe. The larger pool near Café Huraa is the social hub in the morning and early afternoon. It’s family-friendly, lively, and a great spot for lounging in between dips.

The second pool, near the Italian restaurant, is more serene and surrounded by palms and loungers. We loved spending quiet afternoons here, often having the space nearly to ourselves.

Both pools are beautifully designed and offer poolside service throughout the day.

Activities & Experiences

Kuda Huraa is a great option if you're looking to do more than just relax. One of the biggest pro for us was how good the resort is for surfing. This was our first time trying it, and the surf school team was incredibly friendly and patient. They made the initiation fun and approachable, and we were thrilled to catch our first small waves.

We also joined two of the resort’s most memorable excursions:

  • A sunset dolphin cruise, where we saw hundreds of dolphins playing and spinning in the golden light. It was truly one of the most joyful wildlife moments we’ve had in the Maldives.

  • A nurse shark snorkeling trip, which was amazing. Swimming with these graceful giants was a highlight of our trip, and the guides made sure everyone felt safe and confident in the water.

For diving, Lucinda did her first-ever dives here with the resort’s dive center, and she loved every second. The team was extremely professional and encouraging, and the dive sites offered good visibility and marine life.

While snorkeling from the beach or villa wasn’t exceptional (the reef is not very close or vibrant), the diving and guided excursions made up for it.

Final Thoughts: A Perfect Blend of Comfort, Nature and Access

Four Seasons Kuda Huraa manages to combine authentic island charm with polished hospitality and effortless convenience. Its proximity to Malé makes it a fantastic choice for short stays or guests who want to skip the long seaplane transfers, but still enjoy a full luxury experience.

From the spa island and sunset views to surfing lessons and dolphin cruises, Kuda Huraa delivers both comfort and adventure in equal measure. While the snorkeling wasn’t a standout, the diving, excursions, and service absolutely were.

It’s a resort we’d happily recommend to anyone looking for a high-end Maldives experience that feels personal, accessible, and full of life.
