About Ozen Reserve Bolifushi: what you need to know

Before starting our review of Ozen Reserve Bolifushi, let's start with a quick introduction about the resort.

Ozen Reserve Bolifushi is a 5* resort located in South Male Atoll. In order to reach the resort, you'll need a 40 minute boat ride onboard their ultra luxurious catamaran. We've done a lot of boat transfers in the Maldives and rarely seen such a nice boat.

With 90 villas, it is of very nice size. Not too big, not too small, and should be a good match for most people.

The key selling point of this property is really about its all inclusive plan. Indeed, the quality price ratio is excellent and you can enjoy many benefits without breaking the bank. That's why many people consider it as the best all inclusive resort for honeymoon in the Maldives.

The Villas: ocean pool suite with slide and earth pool villa

During our visit at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi we had the chance to split our stay between the ocean pool suite with slide (overwater) and the earth pool villa (on the beach).

Both were truly amazing. Even though the one on the beach was smaller, we really liked its design and the pool was HUGE! The direct access to the beach is always amazing, particularly in front of such a beautiful lagoon. Very often, families with small children will prefer a beach villa than overwater, for security purposes. At least, that's what we often advise.

Still, as always, our favorite was overwater. This 2-floor villa is absolutely enormous, with all living area on the ground floor and the bedroom on the first floor, with incredible views over the ocean.

And of course, the slide! We may both be in our thirties, I can't remember how many times we went down the slide. It really is fun and you do get a very decent speed, more than enough to start enjoying the sensations. Our review of Ozen Reserve Bolifushi is excellent for the villas. They are a solid 9/10. A little refurbishment (as they start to look a bit dated) would push them to a 10/10.

The island and its beautiful beaches

Going to the Maldives is like going to paradise. And what offers paradise vibes? White sandy beaches and crystal clear water.

Let's continue this review of Ozen Reserve Bolifushi with the absolute beauty of the island. Compared to others, like Anantara Kihavah (where you can read the review here), we would not say that the island is beautiful everywhere. Yet, it is very beautiful on many spots.

We particularly love the tiny beach and the most beautiful shades of blue in front of the watersport/activity center.

The area in front of the main breakfast restaurant, with the overwater villas in the background, is also stunning. You could just sit there for hours and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

A super easy-to-snorkel house reef

Every time we review a resort in the Maldives, we always cover the house reef. Indeed, it is something extremely important for us and we have many clients asking us about how good the snorkeling is. After all, the Maldives is the dream destination for snorkeling enthusiasts, so it makes sense that people would want to know how good is the snorkeling at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi.

Even though the snorkeling area is not huge, it is very beautiful and extremely full of life. You access the house reef super easily in front of the spa and then you go to the left for around 300m. This is where the reef is the best and where you will encounter the maximum amount of fish. Not so much big stuff, but plenty of beautiful colourful fish.

As for the corals, we're not going to lie, they are not amazing. This is quite expected in South Male Atoll.

Nonetheless, we really enjoyed snorkeling at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi, but, for more than 1 week stay, it may become a bit boring as the reef is not so big.

The all inclusive at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi

An other very important point that we wanted to cover in this review of Ozen Reserve Bolifushi is the all inclusive package. After all, this is the reason many people choose this resort.

The all inclusive package is called "Reserve Plan" and includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as alcoholic beverage like champagne and cocktails. The quality of everything is of very high standards and the drinks truly are tasty. This is worth mentioning, as, in some all inclusive places, the drinks are so not enjoyable that you won't have more than one!

What we love here is that even the minibar is included with champagne which is refilled daily! How cool is that?

Of course, all restaurants are included and, depending on the length of your stay, you will have a certain amount of special experiences included as well. This can be discussed if you contact your favorite Maldives travel agent.

Is the service good at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi?

Service is something extremely important for us and our clients. Therefore, it is something we always analyse closely when visiting a resort.

If Ozen Reserve Bolifushi does not deliver the best level of service we've ever experienced, it is still of very high standards and definitely a solid 8.5/10. Many of the waiters would remember you by name, know your food/drinks habits and so on.

They are always willing to serve you with big smile and professionalism and did contribute into making our experience really memorable.

Sometimes, the waiting time at restaurants was a bit long and one day they forgot to refill our minibar, but that would be about it for the complaints.

Enjoy overwater spa treatment at Elena Spa

Enjoying the Maldives is also about relaxing, and not just on the beach.

We always experience the spa during our stays in the Maldives and Elena Spa was no exception.

This beautiful overwater spa has some of the nicest rooms we've ever seen. Our 60min couple massage was perfect, and this, while watching the fish swim just below our massage bed.

Do we recommend this resort? Absolutely!

The overall quality/price ratio is almost unbeatable. You get really a lot without having to pay some $3000 per night. Is this the best resort in the Maldives? No. Is it among the best? Absolutely!
