Introduction

There are luxury hotels, and then there is Cheval Blanc Paris. The LVMH-owned property sits right on the banks of the Seine, in a building that used to house the iconic La Samaritaine department store, and the address alone says everything. Pont Neuf on one side, the Louvre a short walk away, Notre-Dame visible from the upper floors. It is genuinely one of the best locations you can have in Paris, and the hotel makes the absolute most of it.

The design throughout is the work of Peter Marino, who has layered art, craftsmanship and color in a way that feels personal rather than corporate. Nothing about it feels like a generic luxury hotel. Every room, every corridor, every detail has been thought through. It is the kind of place where you arrive and immediately understand that you are somewhere different.

Below, you can find our honest review of Cheval Blanc Paris, our favorite luxury hotel in the French capital city.

Service at the highest level

This is where Cheval Blanc truly separates itself. The team here is warm, genuinely attentive and remarkably professional without ever being stiff or overly formal. It reminded us of the best service we experience in the finest resorts in the Maldives, that rare combination of efficiency and human warmth where the staff genuinely seem to care about your stay.

Requests were handled before we even had to repeat them. Arrivals were seamless. The whole operation runs quietly and invisibly behind the scenes, which is exactly how great service should work. When booked in a Seine Suite, you do get complimentary return transfers from and to the airport in a very comfortable Mercedes E-class.

The Seine Suite: spacious & stunning

For this review of Cheval Blanc Paris, we stayed in a Seine Suite, a corner suite on one of the upper floors with floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping around two sides of the room. The space is enormous. Two distinct living areas, a bedroom that feels more like a private apartment than a hotel room, and views over the Seine and the Parisian skyline that you genuinely never tire of, no matter how many times you glance over. The morning light coming in off the river is something else entirely.

The suite itself is a showcase of what Cheval Blanc does best: beautiful materials, considered design, and a level of space that makes you reconsider what a hotel room can actually be. It is the kind of suite where you find yourself spending time in it not because you have to, but because you genuinely do not want to leave.

Food & Beverage: the highlight of Cheval Blanc Paris

The F&B situation here is extraordinary, and we do not use that word lightly. Under one roof, Cheval Blanc Paris holds a combined total of six Michelin stars across three of its restaurants. Plénitude, led by Chef Arnaud Donckele, holds three stars and is widely considered among the finest restaurants in the world right now. Hakuba, a kaiseki-sushi collaboration between Donckele and Japanese sushi master Takuya Watanabe, holds two stars. Le Tout-Paris on the rooftop level holds one star. Six Michelin stars in a single building. It is an almost absurd concentration of culinary talent.

We personally dined at Le Jardin, the seasonal rooftop restaurant that opens during summer. It is a beautiful, lush outdoor space suspended above Paris with the kind of views that make you put your phone down and just sit with it. The food was delicious, elegant without being overwrought, and the setting made the whole experience feel genuinely special. It was the perfect lighter alternative to the heavy tasting menus available elsewhere in the hotel.

Spa, Pool & Gym

The Dior Spa at Cheval Blanc Paris is exceptional. Large, beautifully designed and impeccably run, it offers a full menu of treatments in an environment that feels genuinely calm and restorative.

The indoor pool on the same floor is one of the most beautiful (and largest) hotel pools in Paris, with a green tiled design that looks like something out of an art installation. The gym is well equipped and well maintained with brand new Technogym equipment.

The Kids Club

The kids club at Cheval Blanc Paris is not the largest we have seen, but it is well designed, nicely run and, crucially, included at no extra cost.

That last point matters more than it might seem: at a hotel where everything commands a premium, having a complimentary kids club means parents can hand the little ones over and go explore Paris properly, whether that is a long lunch, a museum afternoon or simply a walk along the Seine without negotiating with a tired six-year-old.

It is a thoughtful addition that makes Cheval Blanc a more realistic option for families than you might initially expect from a hotel of this profile.

The Rooftop & Views

The upper floors of the hotel are genuinely special. Le Tout-Paris, the one-starred brasserie, and Langosteria, the celebrated Italian restaurant from Milan, both sit at the top of the building alongside outdoor terraces with panoramic views over Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower and the Seine.

In the evening, it is one of the most spectacular urban settings we have experienced anywhere in the world.

And we could not forget to mention starting the day at Le Tout-Paris, with the best breakfast views you can have in town.

Conclusion: the best luxury hotel in Paris

Cheval Blanc Paris is the kind of hotel that spoils you for everywhere else. The location is unbeatable, the service is flawless, the design is exceptional, and the food and beverage offering is unlike anything you will find in any other hotel on earth. If you are looking for the very best Paris has to offer, this is it.
