About Ozen Life Maadhoo
Located in South Malé Atoll, Ozen Life Maadhoo is one of the Maldives’ most popular all-inclusive resorts, a favorite among couples and families alike for its great value for money, solid food offering, and unique perks like an underwater restaurant and complimentary spa treatments. The resort opened in 2016 and features 94 villas split between beach and overwater categories, blending a clean, modern design with the signature “Ozen Indulgence” experience that includes almost everything you can imagine.
Easily accessible and offering a complete luxury experience at a reasonable price point, it’s no surprise that Ozen Life Maadhoo has become one of the most recommended five-star resorts in the Maldives.

Transfers & Arrival
Let’s start this review of Ozen Life Maadhoo with the transfers and arrival.
One of the biggest advantages of Ozen Life Maadhoo is its proximity to Malé. The transfer is a comfortable 45-minute speedboat ride directly from the airport, so there’s no need for a seaplane connection, an important time and cost saver.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly Ozen team with a glass of champagne and, quite uniquely, a short foot massage while completing the check-in formalities. This is definitely a thoughtful touch that instantly sets a relaxing tone for the stay.
Your butler then escorts you to your villa on a buggy, giving a short introduction to the resort along the way. Everything feels smooth, fast, and well-organized. Exactly what you want after a long international flight.

Our villas: Earth Villa with Pool (n°103) & Wind Villa with Jacuzzi & Slide (n°223)
During our stay, we experienced two different villa categories that we’d like to cover in this review of Ozen Life Maadhoo.
We first stayed in the Earth Villa with Pool n°103, located on the beach. This villa was spacious and beautifully designed, featuring a large private pool, a generous outdoor bathroom with both bathtub and rain shower, and a lovely beach stretch right in front. The villa was spotless and well-maintained, with some nice welcome snacks waiting for us on arrival. Everything in the minibar was included as part of the resort’s Indulgence Plan, which is a big plus.

For the second part of our stay, we moved to the Wind Villa with Jacuzzi & Slide n°223, the resort’s newer additions following its recent renovations. It’s a very nice overwater villa, with a stylish bathroom, modern furnishings, and a private deck featuring both a jacuzzi and a slide leading straight into the lagoon, a fun and unique touch that kids and adults will both enjoy.
While it’s not among the largest and best overwater villas in the Maldives, the layout is clever, the view is gorgeous, and the atmosphere remains private and peaceful.

The island
The island of Maadhoo is quite large by Maldivian standards, giving guests a nice feeling of space, even when the resort is running at full occupancy. However, in terms of natural beauty, it’s not among the top islands in the country. You can see the most beautiful islands and resorts in the Maldives here.
The sunset side of the island tends to have quite a lot of seaweed, which the resort generally leaves untouched, while the sunrise side features a quiet lagoon with calmer water, though it’s rather shallow and looks a bit like a giant pebble, lacking that postcard-perfect turquoise you see in other Maldivian resorts.
That being said, some areas of the island, especially near the main jetty and the overwater villas, are still very picturesque, with clear water and fine white sand. It’s pleasant overall, but definitely not one of the most beautiful islands in the Maldives.

The service at Ozen Life Maadhoo
Service at Ozen Life Maadhoo was a bit mixed. Our butler was truly exceptional, friendly, attentive, and always quick to respond via WhatsApp, arranging everything from restaurant bookings to spa appointments with efficiency and kindness.
However, the overall service across the resort doesn’t quite match that level. Around the pool, for instance, there was almost no service. You often have to get up and order drinks yourself instead of having attendants approach you. Similarly, service during meals could sometimes be slow or forgetful, even though staff members were always polite and smiling.
In short: the service is friendly but inconsistent, which can be expected for a resort that often runs at high occupancy.

The food: overall good, but not amazing
Let’s continue this review of Ozen Life Maadhoo with the food outlets.
Food at Ozen Life Maadhoo is good overall, especially considering it’s an all-inclusive resort. The breakfast buffet is large and diverse, with fresh fruits, pastries, live cooking stations, and quality products.
Among the à la carte dining options, LONU stands out for its small but refined menu and excellent food quality. Tradition IndoCeylon and Tradition Peking are also part of the dine-around concept, offering Indian and Chinese cuisine respectively. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable.
The main buffet restaurant, The Palms, serves generous dinner buffets with a wide selection of dishes, and quality is consistent.

Of course, the highlight is M6M (Minus Six Metres), the underwater restaurant located six metres below the surface. The setting is truly stunning, surrounded by corals and marine life, and the food is excellent, with a fine-dining approach. The only downside is that the tables are quite close together, so it doesn’t feel as private as it could, but it’s still a must-try experience when staying at Ozen Life Maadhoo. It definitely deserves its spot among the best underwater restaurants in the Maldives.

Snorkeling at Ozen Life Maadhoo
If you’re coming for snorkeling, this may not be the right resort. There is no house reef accessible from the beach or overwater villas, which is quite disappointing compared to other properties in the Maldives.
That said, Ozen compensates for this by offering complimentary snorkeling excursions twice a day to nearby reefs. While these are not among the most spectacular reefs in the country, they are decent enough for first-time visitors to the Maldives. You’ll still see plenty of fish and the occasional turtle or small reef shark, so it’s worth doing at least once during your stay.

The Indulgence Plan (All Inclusive)
The Indulgence Plan is the defining feature of Ozen Life Maadhoo and what truly makes it an excellent value for money.
This plan includes all meals, premium alcoholic drinks, minibar, and numerous activities, so once you’re on the island, you rarely have to pay for anything extra. Guests also get one complimentary spa treatment for every four nights of stay, sunset dolphin cruises, non-motorized water sports, fishing trips, and more.
It’s one of the most generous all-inclusive packages in the Maldives, similar to the concept at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi (read our review here). For guests who like the peace of mind of knowing everything is covered, it’s truly a top choice.

The Main Pool
The main pool area at Ozen Life Maadhoo is a lovely place to spend the afternoon, with comfortable sun loungers, daybeds, and plenty of shaded spots surrounded by palm trees. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, making it ideal for both couples and families.
That said, the beach in front of the pool is not the cleanest, as there is often a noticeable amount of seaweed washed up along the shore. While it doesn’t ruin the overall experience, it does slightly detract from the otherwise beautiful setting.
Still, the pool itself is beautiful, with clear water and a pleasant layout, and the nearby Coco Bar is perfect for enjoying a cocktail or light snack throughout the day. It’s a nice area to chill, but not the kind of picture-perfect lagoon you’ll find at other top-tier Maldivian resorts.

The Spa & Gym
The spa at Ozen Life Maadhoo is an other area we wanted to cover in this review. It is located overwater, with a beautiful wooden design and a calming atmosphere. The reception area is lovely, and the treatment rooms overlook the lagoon. We tried a 60-minute massage, which was good, not the best we’ve experienced in the Maldives, but still very relaxing.
The gym is large and well equipped with LifeFitness machines, offering plenty of cardio and strength options. However, the AC didn’t work properly, making workouts uncomfortably hot, and the music was extremely loud, which isn’t ideal when trying to focus or listen to your own headphones.

The overall value for money
This is where Ozen Life Maadhoo really shines. For what you get, including the all-inclusive package, activities, and dining experiences, the value for money is hard to beat.
Of course, because it’s such a popular resort, it often runs at very high occupancy, which can impact the overall sense of calm and exclusivity. But given everything that’s included in the price, it’s an outstanding choice for travelers looking to enjoy the Maldives without worrying about hidden costs.

Pros & Cons

Conclusion: great value for money but not perfect
In conclusion, our review of Ozen Life Maadhoo highlights a resort that offers excellent value for money, especially for those who want a true five-star Maldivian experience without worrying about extra costs.
While the island isn’t the most beautiful and the snorkeling options are limited, the all-inclusive Indulgence Plan, the variety of restaurants, and the thoughtful touches throughout the stay make Ozen Life Maadhoo a solid choice for couples and families alike.
If you’re looking for a complete luxury holiday with great inclusions and a stress-free experience, this is one of the best resorts in the Maldives for the price.
